About
Hello — I’m Angus.
I’m a holistic counsellor and gestalt psychotherapist. My work is helping people acknowledge what is actually going on for them, and then move towards healing at a pace that is theirs rather than mine.
The methods I use are intuitive and relational — which mostly means I pay attention to what happens between us, and I say what I notice.
The aim is to reconnect you with self-compassion, ease, and some eagerness for your own life again. Not to hand you a technique for coping with a life you have quietly given up on.
Building awareness is the transformative part. When you become more conscious of a pattern — the way you go quiet, the way you take responsibility for everyone in the room, the second drink that was never really a decision — you are then in a position to make a change. Before that, you are just trying harder at the same thing.
I have worked in both community health and private practice, with anxiety and depression, intimate partner concerns, parenting, domestic violence, and substance and behavioural concerns — alcohol, prescription and illegal drugs, gambling, porn, sex and food. Very little will be new to me, and none of it will be met with a raised eyebrow.
The work is grounded in proven technique and psychotherapeutic theory, but you will not feel the theory in the room. You will feel a conversation with someone who is paying attention.
